- Blue Dot Landscaping is a full service landscaping, hardscaping and lawn care company. -
It doesn't matter if you call it a sprinkler system, lawn irrigation or landscape irrigation...
Blue Dot Landscaping has the experience and expertise to help you have the
most beautiful lawn on your lane. In upstate SC, if you want a pristine and
healthy lawn, you simply must have a landscape irrigation system.
Beautiful flower beds, healthy shrubs and trees all need the benefits of what
a professionally installed landscape irrigations system delivers. A typical
water hose in our area delivers a maximum of about 2-3 gallons per minute of
watering. Our normal lawn irrigation system delivers about 18 gallons of water
per minute. Our systems are controlled by a timer. You can set the timer to
come on in the wee hours of the morning, and have watered your entire
landscape by the time you have finished your breakfast. Much easier and much
better than turning on your hose and moving your lawn sprinkler around your
yard. Rich Regan, Owner of Blue Dot, has been installing sprinkler systems for almost two decades,
with more than 200 residential and commercial systems in the Upstate.
If you would like to learn more specifics about installation and components...
and maybe you want to install your own lawn irrigation system - we recommend :
Irrigation tutorials;
sprinkler and
drip systems, design, install and repair.
More than half of the irrigation systems that we see that have been installed by 'less
than professionals' have unorganized layout and poor design. We see irrigation valves scattered about the
landscape and many times hidden. We see popup shrub heads on the same zone as lawn rotors (a big no-no).
The first reason we are better is how we install our valves. We centrally locate your
valves - we do not have valve boxes spread all over your yard.
Proper design and installation of an irrigation system requires study of your
yard. An out-of-the-box sprinkler system with no planning will not take into
account your needs. Correctly planned sprinkler systems have different
watering zones according to the location of trees, shade and different areas
of landscaping. We install rotating type sprinklers for large areas, pop-up
spray sprinklers for smaller areas and drip irrigation for areas that need it.
We engineer your system so that you get an even amount of water per square
foot. Blue Dot spends the time and money to design and install your sprinkler
system with quality and longevity in mind. We centrally locate the irrigation
valves. We bury the water lines deep enough to avoid future problems. Your
irrigation timer-controller will be simple to operate and installed in a
convenient place for your use. We use low pressure drain valves on each zone
so that the water drains from the pipes when your sprinkler system is not in
use.
Key Benefits:
We begin by making a scaled layout of the area to be irrigated. We observe and take note of slope, shade,
obstacles and general landscape environment. We measure your water
pressure, your service line size and your water meter size in order to calculate
flow. Flow, in our case, is measure in gallons per minute (GPM). If
we are using a pump to irrigate your lawn then we calculate the pumps size and
pressure as well as the service line in order to calculate your GPM.
Pumping water from a lake or well can create extra difficulty in that you might
not have an unlimited supply of water. It also can create more options
because we can install a variety of sizes in pumps and water line sizes.
The next step is to actually lay out where the irrigation sprinklers should be and what type they need to be. For
larger lawn areas we use Hunter PGP's
.
They are the best selling and best designed lawn sprinkler in the world. They
have a superior ability to deliver even water distribution from precision engineered nozzles. The Hunter lawn sprinkler
is unequaled for reliability, durability, versatility, and value. For areas that need less than 30 feet of coverage we
use the PGP jr. Same great quality as the PGP but for smaller areas with lessor GPM.
We service Greenville and Spartanburg counties in upstate South Carolina. We repair Toro, Nelson and many other
types of sprinklers, valves and timers. Our favorites to use for new installation are products made by Hunter
and Rainbird.
